19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's maiden championship following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

The win also means he has secured twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on court had led commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and play positively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial tour victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
