British Air Force Typhoon jets have conducted a mission with France's air force in a coordinated attack on an subterranean weapons facility in Syrian territory employed by the Daesh militant organization, per a report from the UK's MoD.
The location, identified by intelligence, was believed to be containing munitions and bombs, the announcement noted, and was located in hills just to the north of Palmyra in the heart of Syria.
"Our fighter planes utilized precision-guided Paveway IV munitions to target a number of entry passages down to the site... early reports indicate the objective was successfully hit," officials stated.
There was no indication of any harm to civilians in the strike on Saturday evening and each participating jet returned to base without incident, the MoD added.
The British jets were assisted by a Voyager tanker plane.
